History
From the dawn of existence
humans have had to defend themselves against aggressors – be it wild
animals or each other. This is
true of all cultures and different cultures/nations have developed
variations on the basic theme – Survival!!
The art of Tang Soo Do is essentially an art that was developed in
Korea, whilst other arts, ‘Kung Fu’ for
example, were developed in China.
Around two thousand years ago variations of martial arts permeated
throughout the Asian world. In
1909 Japan invaded Korea and
martial arts was forbidden only to be rekindled in 1945 when Korea regained
its independence. Grand Master
Hwang Kee, already accomplished in Korean arts merged some Chinese arts
into what he called ‘Tang Soo Do’.
