Seven Principles of

Yong Gi Do Tang Soo Do

1.           Loyalty to Queen and Country

This applies not only to our Monarchy and Country but also to the local communities in which we live.

2.           Obedience to Parents and Elders

This applies to our parents and all older people involved in our lives.

3.           Respect to Senior Grades and Instructors

This applies to your Instructors, Black Belts and Senior Grades from Yong Gi Do.  You must also give such respect and courtesy to those from other organisations.

4.           Never Misuse One’s Art

We practice a traditional art of self-defence; to misuse your art would be to use it for a purpose other than this.

5.           Self-Control

This applies not only to your Tang Soo Do practice but to every area of your life.  It involves personal, physical, mental and spiritual self-control.

6.           Maintain Humble Mind and Spirit

A humble person does not boast or brag about their abilities, they have quiet confidence and are open to new learning and challenges.

7.           Courage in Confrontation

This is one of the most important principles.  Being courageous is not the same as being aggressive; confrontation is an inevitable part of life however courage will enable you to deal with it.  Humility and Self-control will help you deal with it well.
